Every 30 seconds, someone loses their life to a hepatitis-related illness — even though prevention, testing, and treatment exist.
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, usually caused by a viral infection, but it can also result from other factors like alcohol use, toxins, certain medications, or autoimmune diseases.
Common causes of hepatitis:
- Poor sanitation, food handlers
- Shared needles
- Unprotected sex
- Contaminated needles, transfusions
- Poor hygiene, unsafe drinking water
Today, on World Hepatitis Day, we raise awareness. Please, take an action, because early diagnosis saves lives.
