This month, we’re growing more than moustaches — we’re growing awareness.
Movember is a reminder to check in, speak up, and support the men in our lives.

Facts:

💙 Men’s mental health& Suicide prevention– men die by suicide at significantly                                                                             higher rates than women.

💙 Prostate cancer awareness- one of the most common cancers among men
💙 Testicular cancer support – affecting younger men, testicular cancer has high survival rates when detected early

History:

Movember began in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, when two friends, Travis Garone and Luke Slattery, joked about bringing back the moustache as a fashion trend. They decided to turn the idea into a fundraising challenge: grow a moustache for a month to raise awareness for men’s health issues.

Why the Moustache?

The moustache is intentionally visible, sometimes humorous, and often attention-grabbing.
Its purpose is to spark conversations — because conversations lead to awareness, which leads to early detection and lifesaving support.

They recruited 30 men (“Mo Bros”) to participate. The rules were simple:

  1. Start clean-shaven on November 1
  2. Grow a moustache for the entire month
  3. Use it as a conversation starter to raise awareness

The following year, the founders formalized the initiative and created the Movember Foundation, which has since become one of the largest men’s health charities in the world.
