Summer brings us to Kazakhstan. For our July edition, we spoke with Oleg Kurilov, Country Head for Kazakhstan.

 

When did you join GCT and how long have you been with the company?

I joined the GCT team on January 1, 2020. It was a challenging time for the company and for the entire world. I’m based in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Could you tell us more about your role and your professional background?

I am a head of Kazakhstan office and have to deal with regulatory issues, export and import, monitoring and pharmacovigilance. My colleagues from the Russian office help me with this. I have 20 years of experience in clinical research.

What aspects of GCT’s corporate culture are most important to you?

I like the professionalism of my colleagues, the vast experience they share and their desire to help to achieve goals.

Can you share a particularly memorable moment from your time at GCT?

I was surprised that the head of the company Eugene Selivra found time in his tight schedule and invited me personally to an interview in St. Petersburg.

When did you realize that joining GCT was the right decision for you?

I was amazed that during the pandemic, the company found a way to support its employees, even though all work had stopped at that moment.

What have you learned during your time at GCT?

I try to follow my colleague’s example and become more professional and responsible.

How does GCT differ from other places you’ve worked? 

I don’t face difficulties alone; I’m always confident that I’ll be helped in a difficult situation.

In your view, how does GCT make a meaningful impact on people’s lives? What contribution do you find most significant? 

Doing clinical research means being part of the development of the new treatments and drugs and that improves the quality and quality of life of patients

What are some of your favorite activities outside of work? 

Snowboarding and fishing are my two passions.

What do you believe GCT’s mission is?

Step by step, contribute to clinical research which improves the overall medical care worldwide.

How would you describe GCT ten years from now?

I’m seeing offices opening in different countries and the number of employees and clinical trials increasing.

What does GCT’s 25th anniversary mean to you personally?

I respect the work and efforts of all the employees who were able to achieve this.

What do you think has enabled GCT to remain successful for 25 years?
