July is the Sarcoma Awareness Month. Sarcoma is considered to be the «forgotten cancer», and it is a very rare disease. This is why it is important to raise awareness about it.

Sarcoma is the type of cancer that originates in cells of connective tissues.  When this happens, it can cause pain and swollen bones or painless lumps in fat, muscles or other types of soft tissues. In most cases, sarcomas start in a leg or arm, but they can also arise in the chest, head and neck. Depending on the location, 50+ sub-types of Sarcoma can be identified. Because the disease is so rare and can take various forms and locations, it is often hard to detect and treat sarcomas.

If any of the symptoms are identified or suspected, it is crucial to see a cancer specialist for diagnosis as soon as possible.
